Happy Friday to you! Today I’m heading to Birmingham to attend my first ever food blog conference, Food Blog South. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to meet other food bloggers from the South (and beyond) and learn the finer points of, among other things, recipe development, food styling and food photography. I also hear the conference meals are phenomenal and the pre- and post-parties are a blast. And this conference? It could not have come at a better time! You see, I had every intention of leaving you with a lovely finger food. But I failed. Well, sort of. I actually created a scrumptious tarragon-tinged Mushroom Bruschetta recipe (yes, it was as good as it sounds). But the crummy weather caused photography failure. That’s right. Mother Nature is to blame for my inability to snag a decent picture. I even tried to cover up her foul mood with flashes and fluorescent lamps. Still nothing. As if that wasn’t enough, our adorable Christmas Cavachon Beignet snagged a few perfectly staged mushrooms somewhere between takes 78 and 90! That sent me and my post over the edge. No doubt we’ll both recover with the promise of a new day (or two) full of workshops and discussions on that very topic (photography not Cavachons). Come Monday, I have no doubt I’ll be able to control Mother Nature and anyone else who stands in the way of me and my finger food!
